Now that the mountain has dried out a little the Poedunks are kicking butt on the N-Trail revamp again. We had a great turnout on Saturday especially considering there was snow on the ground when we started.

Poedunks evaluate the trail before starting the work.

We’re working our way down the mountain at an amazing rate and the trail looks fantastic. Huge thanks to all the volunteers who came out and kicked butt with shovels and picks! At the same time Poedunks Randy, Dale and other volunteers were working on reseeding the Rancho/Keystone connector trail - check out Poedunk Double Header.

We had a fantastic turn out last Saturday and Sunday do the finish work on the recently cut Rancho to Keystone Connector Trail. Check out www.poedunk.com for the story and photos.

Most of the heavy work was completed last weekend, now some light raking and naturalizing will really help narrow the trail down. We will be meeting for a few quick sessions to complete the east side section by next Wednesday.

- Thursday October 11: 5:30-7:00 pm
- Sunday October 14: 3:00-5:00 pm
- Wednesday October 17: 5:30 pm-7:00 pm
Bring gloves, water, heavy duty or wire rake if you have one. McLoeds and picks will be available if you do not.

When it comes to the longest trails in the country, mountain bikes haven’t been welcome.
Congress banned bicycles from the Appalachian Trail before our sport evolved, and access to the Pacific Crest Trail was eliminated in 1988, before mountain bike advocacy had fully developed. With nearly 5,000 miles of iconic trail off-limits on either coast, mountain bikers have had to look to the Rocky Mountains for their taste of epic, backcountry riding.
The 3,100-mile Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDNST) is truly a unique resource for the mountain biking community. Running the spine of the Rockies from Canada to Mexico, the CDNST is largely open to bikes in non-Wilderness areas. But now that appears to be in danger as well.

This week we’ll return once more to the Browns Creek Trail to buff out the legs into and out of those nice turns we built. Will be a easy night compared to the previous nights. Should also give us time to take some “finished” pictures and get a quick peek over the ridge into the spectacular Browns Creek drainage.

Wil riding Brown’s Creek trail.
