Tara Llanes: Road to Recovery

 On Saturday September 1st 2007, the BMX and mountain biking worlds suffered a tremendous tragedy. While competing in the Jeep King of the Mountain finale in Beaver Creek Colorado, one of the greatest athletes the sport has known, Tara Llanes, suffered a horrific crash during the first run of her semi-final heat. Tara was rushed to Vail Valley Hospital, then airlifted to Denver Health Hospital a short time later. Following seven hours of surgery to the back and spinal cord, it was determined she had no feeling from the waist down.

Karpiel Downhill Bikes - keeping the flame alive.

Karpiel bikes have achieved a legendary status amoung downhill riders. Just go to Northstar any weekend and you’ll see many riders on Karpiel dh bikes bomb’n the mountain. Jan Karpiel moved back to Poland several years ago so parts have been hard to come by, but one man is keeping the flame alive in the USA and the Karpiel bikes are riding better than ever.

Eric update

Eric Opperman broke his collarbone in three places Saturday in a crash at downhill practice for the Peavine Challenge. They operated on him at Renown and put in 7 screws to hold it in place.  He is out of the hospital and recuperating at home if you want to give him a call. Get well soon Eric!
