US Cup National * Southridge Park Fontana, California * March 28th – 29th, 2009
We had the greatest time at the Fontana race! Donny Jackson and Southridge Racing put on the best mountain bike races in the country – well organized and super fun events! Always a pleasure to race at Fontana!
Many dhReno racers and friends made the trek to Fontana for the awesomes races at the NMBS # 2 at Southridge Park. Among the racers this year were John Kresich (DH and MX), Jordan Lopez (DH and Super D), Casey Coffman (DH 5th in Semi-Pro congratulations!), Jon Wilson (DH Pro), Roger Lopez (Super D), Christian Wright (DH Jr X) and more. Check out their results below.
Looks like the Sea Otter Classic and Norba race promoters have an interest in bringing back DS/4X for the old guys. Sea Otter has broken up their masters 40+ category (which previously combined beginner, sport, and expert) into three separate categories, one for expert, sport, and beginner which will now provide huge medal opportunity for all.
Additionally, the Norba promoters have reinstated the DS/4X 40+ categories (beg/sport/expert) giving the old guys a chance. Last year most events caped it at 30+ and in some cases 19+ which made it tough for old guys to compete. I’ve been told this resurrection of the old guy categories will be a test for 2008 and only survive if enough old guys participate.
Hope to see you on the DS/4X course at Fontana and Sea Otter.

We missed the Southridge Winter Series #4 Downhill Race this time, but David Bershefsky sent us this helmet cam video of what the dh course looked like in practice. It is awesome how Southridge manages to have a much different course for each race.
