Series starts this Saturday!

Course report for the Pine Nut Cracker. No mud at all on the course and no major precipitation forecast for the area between now and Saturday. So it looks like it will be hard and fast and fun. Online pre-reg closes Wednesday Night at 8pm. http://www.bikereg.com/events/Register.asp?EventID=13201  No online service fee-register early to save the $10 late fee at the race.

2008 Sky Tavern Downhill Race

Sunday September 28th, 2008 * Sky Taverrn Resort *  Mount Rose, Nevada

There was a huge turnout at the WCCC Mtb Opener last Sunday. Nevada Cycling did an awesome job hosting the event!

UNR racers won both of the top spots with former Collegiate DH National Champ Jon Wilson winning the men’s race and UNR racer Tennile Smith winning the women’s downhill.

Looks like the Sky Tavern downhill race did go off this year with 7 racers, each in a different category, so everyone was a winner!

 This year the Sky Tavern DH race was on the same weekend as the Northstar Downhill Series # 3 which happened the next day.

Sky Tavern downhill race report

Mount Rose, Nevada * August 18th, 2007

I talked with dhReno rider Jordan Lopez at the Northstar race on Sunday. He came over from Sacramento to race Sky Tavern on Saturday. Jordan did 3 practice runs and then about 10:30 am, with only six racers present, they called the event so he left.

I also had a 2nd hand report that the dh race actually went off  a little later with 7 racers.  If you rode the course or raced it tell us what happened? Thanks!

Sky Tavern DH Course Update

Nevada State Championship DH Race * Sky Tavern, Nevada * Saturday August 19, 2006 

Hacksaw has done a excellent job with the Sky Tavern DH course and it is pretty well dialed in. Thanks for all the hard work on the course Saw! The Pro/Expert and Sport/Beginner DH courses follow the traditional routes down the technical singletrack. 

There’ll be a final work party to groom and mark the course this Friday. Come out and help it’ll be fun and we’ll ride the course afterwards! Meet at the Sky Tavern parking lot Friday Aug. 18th at 8:00 AM (we’ll be working our way up the course if you get there later). Bring a shovel or rake and water.

Sky Tavern DH Race Info

The UNR Cycling team is putting on the Norba Nevada State one-day Downhill Championship Race  on Saturday August 19, 2006 at Sky Tavern on Mount Rose.

The DH course is a technical, rocky course with a couple of steep sections. They plan on using the same basic course as in years past.  There will be Pro/Semi-pro, Expert, Sport , Beginner and Jr categories.
