This weekend is the Peavine Challenge XC and DH and we could still use a few more volunteers if you are not racing. Please email Kevin Joell kevinj14952 at yahoo if you can help out. Kevin and the Reno Wheelmen have graciously offered a portion of the proceeds go to the Poedunks the local IMBA trail building club. It is a great pairing so please considering helping out.

Series starts this Saturday!
Course report for the Pine Nut Cracker. No mud at all on the course and no major precipitation forecast for the area between now and Saturday. So it looks like it will be hard and fast and fun. Online pre-reg closes Wednesday Night at 8pm. http://www.bikereg.com/events/Register.asp?EventID=13201 No online service fee-register early to save the $10 late fee at the race.
This is the best we have for a map of the Pine Nut Cracker course. There may be something with more detail up before the race. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/86372778

“Attached are the results from the 18th annual Peavine Challenge. 65 riders braved the wind to race today on what was otherwise perfect weather. Photos will be posted soon on the Nevada Cup facebook page. Feel free to add some if you took some good ones.
Thanks to those who volunteered to help out, the race can’t happen without you. Danny K., Roger M., Jerry C., Montie M., Steve C., Chris P., Kevin F., Rick P., Kevin C., Brie M., Suzanne M., and Fritz F.
Also a huge Thanks to Black Rock Bicycles for lining up the Titus folks and providing a free tailgate BBQ for all the racers! Not to mention the cruiser bike they donated to the raffle which was won by Shawn O’Meara. It seemed like almost everyone went home with something! …”

Don Morehouse and Casey Coffman did a fantastic job at the ’08 Peavine Challenge XC Race last Saturday. The race covered 26 miles of singletrack with over 4,400 ft of climbing! It’s muy tough just to finish.

From Dale prez of the Poedunks … “the lower flanks of Peavine have finally thawed and we are looking to resume work on the n-trail again beginning this SaturdayMarch 8 at 9:00 a.m. Meet at the Rancho San Rafael softball parking lot, tools provided.
With permission from the Park manager, our projects goal is to make the existing trail more challenging and sustainable, accommodating intermediate to advanced riders.”

Eric Opperman broke his collarbone in three places Saturday in a crash at downhill practice for the Peavine Challenge. They operated on him at Renown and put in 7 screws to hold it in place. He is out of the hospital and recuperating at home if you want to give him a call. Get well soon Eric!
