Sunday was a stellar day to ride Downieville. The trail was in great condition – just damp enough so that traction was right on and no dust! The riding weather was really good too – a little cool on top and then just right a little further down the mountain. I think the fall is the most awesome time to ride DVille.

Packer Saddle road block. L2R Randy, Cristy, Sean, Tomo, Nancy, Don, Casey, Ed, Eddy, Dan, Jude, Steve’s Nomad.

We started out early at Black Rock Bikes. Casey’s 15 passenger mega van combined with Randy’s Sportworks equipped shuttle trailer are the shizzle!

On the trail
As soon as we arrived you could feel that air was charged and it felt great to be in the Sierra. We wondered about the conditions on the Sunrise Trail because it’s in the shade. Sunrise had a little mud and a few ice puddles but it was totally fun to ride. Going down Butcher Ranch and the Third Divide was spectacular and everyone was just flying down the trail. Of course when you let it hang out on an awesome track like this there were some flat tires and a few crashes but everyone was smiling at the end!
Don and Jude did a smokin fast time on their 2nd run – they rode the race course in 1hr 27 sec (and they stopped for a few minutes). Dan wasn’t far behind them on a light Titus Racer X!

Lots of places to hang out in DVille. Randy and Eddy in front of Yuba Expeditons.

Our little friend the DVille Parrot was out in the sun and talking with us again. This bird is a crack up and he has quite a vocabulary.

Randy, Nancy & Steve talking with the parrot – and he answered!

It was a fantastic day! wish I had kicked it around Dville for a while before heading back. That place gets into your soul. Something about the rivers, mountains, the air there is just……Better!
