Downieville & the Sunrise Trail

Sunday November 5th, 2006

We rode the Sunrise Trail for the first time this weekend and it is awesome.  This new trail (it opened October 14th, 2006) runs from Packer Saddle to the Butcher Ranch trailhead. You can now bypass the ride down the road and rail some fantastic singletrack at the same time! Many thanks to the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship for all the great work on this project!

CristyIt was a great day at Downieville. Conditions were perfect, the day was warm and the trail was a little damp and tacky from the rain the day before so you could just rail the turns - and there was absolutely no dust!

Riders on Sunday were:  Sean, Wolfy, Cristy, Don, Janice, Nancy & Steve.

Downieville in November

The fall colors are still happenin’ in D-Ville. We also saw a large bear in town as we were loading the bikes on the shuttle van!

    Steve,
That was awesome! I need to toughen up a bit to handle two runs of that. It’s not the trail, but the insane speed that kills you!
Check The Bacon Strip for a video of Don rolling that one super rocky section.
